LC RCMP Deal With Armed Suicidal Algonquin PD Officer

Multiple RCMP officers were dispatched to the top level of a Franicis Int'l Airport for a man with a weapon. Insp. Glen, the first officer on scene, talked to the man who revealed himself as an Algonquin PD detective with more than thirty two years experience who had tried for the RCMP and failed and whose wife had left him. A trained ERT negotiator, Constable Jim Torque, was paged and staged at FIA detachment with the rest of the ERT team. Insp. Glen ordered that the negotiator get to the scene ASAP.

It was discovered he was Detective Andrew Rouge. Cst. Torque took over with negotiations and found he had a 45. calibre loaded service weapon. Dect. Torque had twenty two years as a beat cop and ten as a detective, had been rejected for promotion several times and failed to make the RCMP. He was given a black coffee with a bit of sugar (according to his requests). He openly showed signs of not wanting to hurt any of the officers on scene and admitted he had looked for help before but it had failed. He bonded with Insp. Glen who also had more than thirty years experience in law enforcement.

Exchanges went on for more than twenty minutes. Eventually he dropped his gun and threw it over the edge. Torque approached but the detective turned and pulled a second weapon, trying to take the negotiator hostage. Several shots were fired by RCMP officers at the suspect taking him down. No RCMP officers were injured and LCAS were cleared to enter.

The supsect's condition is currently classified.
